Adam Ethan Crow

Adam Ethan Crow
Adam Crow is a many of many parts - as shown by his occasional use of his full monicker Adam Ethan Crow which as well as making his name look bigger when it's up in lights, also helps to confuse anyone trying to pin him down like comedy and biography writers.

An experienced stand-up comedian for more than a decade, Adam Crow has enjoyed a whole new lease of life in recent years, after first beating cancer and then surviving a heart attack that as well as making him glad to be alive, also helped him put things in perspective.

It could also be explained by a diverse upbringing that saw Adam Crow born in Ipswich but with a half-Irish, half-South African upbringing - that's three pretty diverse and dominating accents to deal with for a start.

And then of course there is his desire to always be in the spotlight, first as a model, then as an actor, TV presenter and stand-up comic.

His material, though varied from gig to gig, centres frequently on relationships and the time honoured question of the differences between men and women. Untroubled by political correctness, he can have an audience giggling with understanding and eating out of the palm of his hand one minute and then gaping open-mouthed with shock at the harshness of what he has just said the next.

A truly varied comedian, who can flit from dark to light and back again over a whole host of subjects from the banal, inane and trivial to the deep, personal and political. Adam Crow's calm, measured approach and low, husky voice has seen him sometimes described by critics as lazy,  but in reality it has taken years of hard work to be able to appear that calm, laidback and whimsical. Beating death not once but twice helps too.

Much in demand Adam Crow has honed his act to suit any audience, irrespective of race, genre, region or venue. Be it as a compere or comic, at a comedy club or festival, corporate function or charity gig, Adam can appear to be at home as shown at the 1997 Edinburgh Festival when Adam, with Mitch Benn, wrote and performed the surprise sell-out hit The A-Z of Comedy.

A true comedian’s comedian, Adam admits to being pleasantly shocked by the number of get well messages he got from his fellow comics while he was unwell. In his own words, he said: "Wow - really weird how the comedy community gets together when one of our soldiers fall. "

Described by Ricky Gervais as “really funny” his celebrity fans range from the good (Griff Rhys Jones), the bad (Dr Fox) and the ridiculous Gloria Hunniford.

As an actor Adam Crow appeared in such quality dramas as The Dream Team (Sky One), Casualty (BBC 1), Trust (ITV), The Leaflet (BBC2), The Bill (ITV), Lovejoy (BBC 1) and Pirate TV for Sky. He was even an unlikely relationship expert on Channel 4's The Real Dating Show, offering pearls of wisdom to the sad, lonely and desperate of TV land. As a presenter, he co-hosted a pilot for Channel One called After Midnight and hosted a forum style interview with Griff Rhys Jones for Martin Cassini Productions. On radio, he was also the anchor for his own spoof Sunday show for BBC Radio .

Such aptitude and diversity has also kept Adam much in demand for TV warm-up work And here he has covered the whole spectrum of light entertainment - from fellow coffin dodgers on Open House with Gloria Hunniford, to the outlandish lager louts on Channel 5's Night Fever. Still it keeps him sane and pays the bills.

Equally lucrative and successsful is Adam Crow's other sideline. A talented photographer, he specialises in portraits, portfolios and publicity shots and runs his own photographic company www.adamethancrow.com. Among his clients are several of his fellow comics, always keen to make themselves presentable to the press.

But whatever happens, after facing the grim reaper and walking away, Adam Crow is determined to enjoy it and hopes you will too.

As the man said: "No matter what you do in life enjoy it. Don't stop to smell the flowers - after all they are just plants, but do hug those you care about, try and be good to your fellow man/woman - unless they are dicks, then sod them, make no time for morons. As the late great Bill Hicks said: 'Life is just a ride". My addition is "be careful to join the queue for the good rides - we all have choices, good luck with yours.

"And to all, if you get a numb left arm and your GP tells you it's a trapped nerve - get a second opinion. Hey and if nothing else I got some new material out of it!"
