Essex boy John Ryan is what is known in the trade as a geezer – and a very clever one at that.

Well anyone who has written scripts for the Tellytubbies has got to be a bit special surely. An Edinburgh Highlight award winner, the infectiously friendly Ryan poses and acute observational eye and a dry and but razor-sharp wit that can react to any situation.

Combining an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the world around him and beyond with an ability to think on stand-up comedian John Ryan feet means he can pluck humour from whatever audience or venue he is facing.

No stranger to either the strange or the norm, he will put an amusing spin on any subject matter going be it Olympic runners being robbed for their trainers in Stratford (yes he knows you nicked it Michael McIntyre!) to the theory of relativity and much more.

As well as being a brilliant stand-up comedian John Ryan is also a prolific writer. While claiming to specialise in social, political and topical material,  as well as the popular TV show Tellytubbies, he also wrote for that tale of the naughty and heroic car Brum.

John Ryan also writes and performs the award winning Men's health project Hurt Until It Laughs, he has a weekly column in The Irish Post, presents a breakfast show for Liberty Radio and is a writer with the East Cheap Theatre Company in New York.
