Luke Wright is 22 and has been a stand-up poet/comic for five years. In 2002 he was short listed for the final of 'So You Think You're Funny?' and appeared on the BBC's Glastonbury coverage with Colin Murray where they giggled about Robbie Williams and called him a 'nobber,' which hasn't been done on live TV before. He has also appeared on The Adam and Joe Show, ITV's The Biz, and a few regional art programs not really worth mentioning. He is co-host and promoter for 2ManyPoets a new poetry/comedy club at The Pleasure Unit Bar, 359 Bethnal Green Road (last Wednesday of the month).
Luke does hard-hitting, acerbic takes on pop culture and the problems of looking like a boyband wannabe. Observational meets the surreal with a cheeky smile and a large amount of self-deprecation.
With over 400 gig under his belt Luke is an able compere and is currently working towards a Radio 4 series with the other members of the performance poetry collective Aisle16. He is also writing Aisle16's third Edinburgh show and will be featuring in his own 30 minute solo show at the Underbelly at the 2004 Fringe.
