Michael McIntyre, Knock 2 Bag Comedy Club and Sarah Millican were stars of last night’s annual comedy awards.
Sarah Millican became the first woman to win the Chortle ‘Best Headliner’ gong last night at the annual comedy awards bash in London.
Michael McIntyre also triumphed, picking up two awards for ‘Best Tour’ and a TV award for his comedy roadshow.
Comedy club Knock 2 Bag must have been chuffed with the results - they won ‘Best Small London Venue’ for their club at Bar FM in Shepherd’s Bush and the Tabernacle - where their Notting Hill branch is based - was voted ‘Best Large London Venue’.
While interviewing ‘Best Newcomer’ nominee Joe Lycett last week, Spoonfed learned that he was nervous about the upcoming ceremony. He needn’t have worried as he beat fellow nominees Ivo Graham, Naz Osmanaglu and Gareth Richards to the title.
Idiots of Ants, who lost out on an Edinburgh Comedy Award last year, had some compensation last night as they were named ‘Best sketch act’ and Nica Burns - who directs and produces the annual Edinburgh Comedy Awards - recieved a gong for ‘Best off-stage contribution’.
Winners were decided by Chortle readers after a shortlist was drawn up by a panel of comedy critics.
